Hi Kliphton,
Skype has a huge user base and what is more, it works on so many platforms and devices including many smart TV's. Also, while you might be able to make a phone call from your Mac when OSX Yosemety and iOS 8 are out, that call still goes through your cell provider or it might be a Facetime call, but you can't use Facetime to call landlines and mobile numbers around the world for relatively low rates or sent SMS messages. Also don't forget that there are less than 400 Million people in North America and Asia has 3 Billion or so and since Skype is so pervasive even on low-end devices I think they are pretty safe for a while. Being able to make calls right from your mac. Skype should be very afraid! It could cause their revenue from their landline calling segment to take a real hit. But it does indeed appear as if this feature has also been removed for now. I totally agree with you, Jonathan, that this is really a vital feature and it should be considered essential. Even on my PC I can opt to show all my Outlook contacts in Skype and I really hope that a lot of other people will realize that it is no longer possible to access one's iPhone contact list and raise a storm. Interestingly enough if I go to Privacy and check which apps have access to my Contacts Skype is still listed. Of course this might be the case because I upgraded, I probably see what happens if I delete Skype and reinstall it. I will report anything I find regarding this. I'm new to Skype. I have searched the app, but can't find a way to import my contacts. I have no time or patience to add my contacts individually. Not being able to call your contacts from within Skype makes the app a lot less useful. In one thread somebody from Skype replied to many rather unhappy messages that they are looking to bring this back in a future update. One thing that works nicely is to swipe between People, Recents and Favorites instead of finding the buttons at the top. You can double tap and hold either on the left side of the phone and swipe across to the right after the triple tone or double tap and hold on the right and swipe across to the left. This will smoothly and seamlessly move between screens, just touch the screen after to see if you are in People, Recents or Favorites. For those who didn't see my previous post as to how you can remove contacts, here it is again: 1. Double tap on the contact you want to remove 2. Double tap on the "More" button at the bottom right 3. Double tap on the "Block" button from the menu which pops up (the other option is "Add to Favorites" 4. In the next menu you have the options "Block", "Block and Remove" and "No" (the latter is if you change your mind and want to do nothing).
