CamFind is another app that one can use for identifying and recognizing
objects. It's from the same developers as TapTapSee and it's free. I forgot
about LookTel Recognizer being used as a barcode reader/scanner. I do have
Digit-Eyes and probably use this app more frequently when scanning and
organizing paperwork. I like the ability to create my own lables.

To answer your other question, on the Digit-Eyes website (www.digit-eyes.com),
there is a specific link to give one hints on finding the barcodes more
efficiently. Once in a while, I'll get stumped and will need to use another app
instead of Digit-Eyes or even take out my old ID Mate Omni, but that's in a
rare occasion. Using transparent Scotch tape (when out and about) and having a
a sighted person place it over the barcode will help one find it later on. I
always look for a seam on a package or can and start just left of the seam or
the bottom of a package like rice, but I'm systematic in my search. For a box,
I'll locate the top where one would go to open it and then turn the box upside
down and usually start on the bottom left. This usually works pretty well
unless the barcode has been placed on the side. Sometimes there is no logical
reason for where a manufacture has placed a barcode. In these cases, I will use
CamFind to take a picture. HTH

Best,
Eileen
