Ah, at the same time as setting up the extra work mail account on my iphone I also set up a work ipad with only the work email account on but linked to my Apple ID - and when I added icloud it initially included syncing Contacts though I have now turned that off. No wonder things have got into a mess! Though as I said, going into the Contacts app on my iphone shows only my personal contacts. So where are these hundreds of other people's details stored so that they spontaneously appear as suggestions when composing emails? Thanks!
