Hi Jen and others,
OK, now with the correct developer, here is the app Jen referred to: 1500 Free Ringtones! - Music, Sound Effects, Funny alerts and caller ID tones Price: Free App Store Link: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/1500-free-ringtones!-music/id326407535?mt=8 Remember that you still have to use iTunes to get the ringtones to your device, here is something from the "What's New" section: It's now easier to get your tones! We no longer email you the tone. Instead, the tone is saved to your device. However, you still need access to a computer to load your ringtone into your device sound settings for use. This sounds to me that the ringtone is downloaded into the app and you probably have to use iTunes file sharing or maybe FTP to save the ringtone to your computer, then add it to your tones library and sync it back to you riPhone. Despite the fact that Apple announced "extensibility" for iOS 8 which means developers have more ways to share information and data, there was no mention for allowing the downloading of ringtones directly to the phone. I guess we can hope that maybe this will come in iOS 9. I believe that is how it is spelled. What you do is play the sound, then you have to press the download or close button to get back to the list of songs and it can be a little cumbersome to do. They do have some neat sounds. Jenn TO THE WORLD YOU ARE SOMEONE, BUT TO SOMEONE YOU ARE THE WORLD! If so it appears that it's just another app like Ringtone Maker, Ringtone Wizard or Ringtone Architect. All of these apps basically allow you to pick a song from your music library, select a portion of that song and convert it to a ringtone. You then have to either email this ringtone to yourself or get it out of the app using iTunes file sharing, then save it to your ringtones folder, import it to your tones library in iTunes and sync it back to your phone. There simply is no way to get ringtones to a non-jailbroken iPhone without using iTunes. The only exception is if you buy the ringtone from iTunes, then it's downloaded to your phone and made available. I also heard that if you use Apple's Garage Band app you can make a ringtone and somehow make it available on your phone and all of it from the app without having to sync through iTunes. I have not tried this so it's just hear say. They both work well with the devices. It is a little tricky though. If you get this app, let me know and I'll show you the tricks.
