I think it's a graphical remote, and it just pops up the menus on the TV, and you gouch the arrow up and down controls to operate it, so I highly doubt it would be usable for more than switching channels. Back when, I thought about getting one, just so I could stream the news when I was in a town where I don't care for how they do their news, so I could hear my favorite local station instead. Now, a couple of them at least stream the news, so I probably don't need it any more.
