I haven't really given any thought to the idea of incorporating the use of a Braille Display as I am more concerned with Transportation at this point.

I'm in search of Public Transit iOS Apps, which would notify me of My BusStops as well as the location of various BusStops. I believe I would have to transfer from BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) to other Public Transit options as well as utilize the Public Transit Options within Palo Alto,Ca. This is why I am focusing on Public Transit. I presume transfering from WiFi to Your Mobile Carrier's Data can put a strain on your Mobile Device's Battery, and I am wondering whether or not the use of Mophie's JuicePack with the Apple iPhone 4S will be sufficient enough to handle this Load or should I UpGrade or Find suitable alternatives.

Thanks 4 Replying, it IS GREATLY Appreciated!

Hi, Robin,

Having lived in the Bay Area for awhile in the past, I know that a commute from Berkeley to Palo Alto will be a long one. What sorts of apps are you looking for? Are you going to be reading using Braille or speech? Do you want to use a phone in conjunction with your apps, or do you want to do your work uninterrupted by phone calls? Many public transportation vehicles have WiFi these days. Some of the battery consumption considerations have a lot to do with how much you use WiFi and Bluetooth. Bluetooth will be used with Braille displays and with phone calls. So there are a lot of factors which go into battery life.

Any smart phone is going to be a battery hog.

As for transportation apps, (sorry; I may not have been clear about your questions, so I hope this info is relevant), I use HopStop. See if the local public transportation agency has their own app for you to use, i.e. AC transit or Samtrans or any other relevant agency.

Teresa

Recommendations:

What would Totally blind Travelers, whose primary mode of Transportation is Public Transit (i.e. Bus, Subway, LightRail) recommend as possible options as it pertains to Apple iPhone Models In Terms of Battery & iOS Apps?

I would greatly appreciate responses from those in the Northern California (i.e., Bay Area...San Francisco-Oakland-Berkeley-San Jose-Palo Alto areas) primarily because My upcoming Travlels/Commutes will require transportation from Berkeley,CA to Palo Alto,CA as well as within Palo Alto,Ca.
