Joseph, I know you won't like to hear this, but your post is completely out of line.
Jonathan is one of the most respected and knowledgeable people on this and many other lists. He contributes freely and he has probably forgotten more about technology than you will ever know. Jonathan honoured me by asking me to read the drafts of his book and to provide feedback and I also bought his book last year. These books are excellent references for any iOS user even one like you who apparently knows everything. One thing is for sure, you won't be making friends with that post of yours given Jonathan's reputation. There is also nothing which prevents you from writing a better and more comprehensive guide and to offer it for sale. I'm sure Cara would have no problem allowing you to promote it on the Viphone list if you did. I too am looking forward to iOS 8, but don't forget that the new users are usually the ones who find all the bugs, which is to say, for those new to iOS, you might not want to install iOS 8 on day of release.
