Ari, that's exactly how I do it as well.

I should add to hear that both touchscreens textures and keyboard commands
which accomplished gestures can be combined seamlessly. So, for instance,
sometimes I use my keyboard to reply to email, in which case I would find
the correct button on the screen and activate it by double-topping on it,
and then use the keyboard to write my message. Then I would touch the send
button and double-tap it to send the message.
Thanks,
Ari

Sieghar, I see we are alike in this respect. I've got the Amazon Basics
Bluetooth Wireless Keyboard and use it with my iPhone 5s if dictation
isn't going to cut it.
Now on my iPad Air, that's another story because I use a QWERTY keyboard
case however, it's used in the same way as is with the iPhone. I bought
the iPad Air so that my iPhone could be use for um,calling people and
texting. That one though is on my wife! LOL! She says if you want me to
pick up bread and milk on my way home, don't call me to tell me that. It
takes time away from my patients. So I learned to text. It was better
then getting yelled at! LOL!

Hi Michelle,
OK, I now understand what you mean by Voiceover commands with a Bluetooth
keyboard. Well, I have been an iOS user for almost 5 years and while I do
have a Bluetooth keyboard, I don't use it a lot and when I do it's mostly
when I really want to write a long email on my iPhone. Otherwise I
exclusively use touch screen gestures which really is what the iPhone is
designed for. Apple has done a fantastic job of adding Bluetooth keyboard
and braille display support, but I prefer to use the touch screen
especially
for just navigating around and reading.
Regards,
Sieghard

Yes, voiceover gestures are where you tap the screen, flick up or down,
etc.
and voiceover commands are where you hold down the vo keys and then other
keys on the keyboard. If you are not a JAWS user, it can be difficult to
get familiar with using the keyboard for commands and learning basic
gestures such as taps and flicks is a much easier way to navigate the
screen. I imagine that many JAWS users can easily transform to learning
Voiceover commands as they are used to navigating the keyboard with
commands, but as a non JAWS user, it is a lot to learn.

Is it possible to perform basic functions such as reading email and
downloading books from BARD and Bookshare by using only voiceover gestures
and no voiceover commands or do you need to memorize some voiceover
commands to perform these basic activities? Michelle
