Here in Canada you can tap and pay with Visa and Mastercard at a lot of places especially grocery stores, drug stores, convenience stores, liquor stores and so on. Depending on which store there is a limit, e.g. I think at Safeway I can tap my card if my grocery purchase is under $100, if it's more I have to still put in my PIN. I guess in the States using a PIN with a credit card is not very widely spread, either, here it is common place. You stick in your card, enter your 4-digit Pin just like with a bank card and off you go, no signature necessary.
