Hi Olivia,

Let's go from scratch.

Find your camera at the top right back of the phone. Place that
approximately in the center of your document. Put your elbows on either side
of the document and lift the camera about 8 to 10 inches from the document.
Double tap the button that says: "Field of view report" At this point, your
flash should have been turned on and your tilt guidance vibrator should be
turned on. Your field report should say if it can see all 4 sides of the
text. For instance, if it says top bottom and right sides, you have to move
a little left and double tap again. If it says you are rotated clockwise x
number of degrees, try to turn clockwise until it says as close to possible
to 0 degrees. It should be able to accept a few degrees rotation and still
get a good image. If it tells you you are rotated 1 or 2 degrees or even a
bit more, don't worry too much about it. Make sure you tilt the phone in
every direction until you get no vibration at all. Then your camera will be
level. Take the picture and the results should be good.

All this seems complicated as I describe it but, don't worry about that. It
seems very complicated to me also as I describe it but, as you know, its
always more difficult to describe than it is to do it. Once you've done it
once correctly and practice a bit, you'll become a pro in no time at all.
Its really very simple once you get the hang of it.

Let us know how you do.

Subject: Still no luck with KNFB reader here

Hi All,

I'm still having no luck. I was a little more successful in that I got the
app to see chopped up portions of text on one part of the page, but could
not get it to read a whole page of text.

Not sure how the tilt guide is used yet or the view report. I think I'm
going to ask a sighted coworker who loves this stuff and has patience with
me to show me how to line things up with the camera in the morning. Perhaps
after he teaches me this critical part it'll be easier?

Chris, your post about having things to close gives me hope! I'm not sure
how to use the information the view finder report gives me and am hoping
that perhaps having someone physically guide me through the process a few
times will help?

Thanks everyone! I'll figure this out yet!

Olivia
