I wonder if others have been reading posts about the KNFB reader and are
thinking the same thing that I am. I don't have the reader yet, but have had a
bar code scanner for a few years. When I first got one for the person I was
living with, we went through the pantry and scanned all sorts of stuff, even
though we already knew what they were, like kids playing with a new toy, which
we were. People, including myself, have been asking, "Will it scan this?",
"Will it scan that?" I am by no means complaining. Fact is, I find this to be
fun!

I've spent the last half hour or so playing with KNFB Reader on
my iPhone 5s. I couldn't be more impressed.
I read my son's school report, which it got word perfect even
when it came to reading tables. It read a glossy pizza menu fairly well. It
read the page of a book perfectly, and it read a letter I received in the mail.
The feedback one gets via vibration to line up the picture is incredibly
helpful. You can use the field of view report if you need to for even more
information about camera positioning and angle.
And, it's fast. Very fast, between taking a picture and getting
speech.
It's early days but this has actually exceeded my expectations.
Certainly it's possible to use other apps, but I've found nothing this simple,
fast, or accurate without any additional aids. Outstanding stuff.
