I'm seeing the same problem. What I do is touch the bottom of the
screen, above the home button, and then do a swipe left, even if I hear
VoiceOver announce delete button, when I first touch the bottom of the
screen. The delete button seems to work when you swipe to it but not
when you find it by touching it.
