Hi Shawn,

I just installed the new Skype update and since I have a personal Skype ID
and one for my business I signed I nto my business account on the laptop and
called myself on the iPhone. I am quite excited about this, but I think that
if you have a passcode on your phone you still need to unlock the phone
although you can answer it from the lock screen. OK, maybe I should have
said this the other way around: you can answer a call from the lock screen,
but if you have a passcode on the phone you have to unlock your phone after
tapping Answer before the call is actually answered. I have a 5S so using
touch Id it's pretty easy. Now, how to answer a call? At first I tried what
they said in the What's New which is a swipe left except that I did a double
tap and hold (pass-through gesture) and then swiped left. This did, however
not help. I then called myself again and thought I see what the action rotor
gestures would do. So when the notification came up in the lock screen I did
a simple one-finger swipe down and Hurray, I had options to Decline, Answer
and I can't remember in my excitement if there were others. But double
tapping when it said Answer didn't actually answer the call, but it did take
me straight to entering my passcode and at that point I put my thumb on the
home key, touch Id unlocked my phone and the call was instantly connected
even though I didn't have Skype in the foreground and I didn't have to do
anything else.

This is very exciting because while it has been really easy to make Skype
calls it was always a bit of a challenge to answer them. I had to double tap
on the notification in the lock screen, the unlock the screen and then
quickly find the Answer button in Skype. Now that last step is no longer
required. Tomorrow I will turn Voiceover off and ask one of my employees to
swipe left on the notification in the lock screen because I want to see if
without Voiceover the call is answered without having to unlock the phone.
I'll report back tomorrow.

Another new and awesome feature is that if you are in the Skype app and on a
call, a 2-finger double tap now ends the call just like it does a regular
phone call. Hurray iOS 8 and extensibility!!! Now let's hope Apple fixes
some bugs and I'll be a very happy tapper.

Of course in their last update Skype added the ability to do group calls
from the iPhone, another feature many were waiting for.
. Now if they only offered Skype-In numbers for Canada I'd drop all other
Voip providers.

Regards,
Sieghard

Subject: New Skype On The iPhone

Hey all. I was going through my updates today and I noticed a new Skype
update, version 5.5. This update has new and pretty neat features, including
answering calls and replying to messages in the lock screen and when banners
appear in iOS8. They tell you how to answer calls and that in the lock and
home screens as a sighted person, but has anyone figured out how to do the
same when Voiceover is on?
