Zoom was reworked in iOS8. You can now zoom only the current window, better manage zoomed content while typing, get quick access to zoom controls, and I think there are a couple other features. Whether it is worth it or not is up to you, but the WWDC videos this year are publicly available, and one of them discusses these new changes so might be worth a look.
