I'm cautiously optimistic. I have been able to send 4 text messages in a row for the first time. I usually use Siri to do this via dictation from the locked screen. I have only been able to send 1 out of 5 prior to this. So, the scrub and re-install may have worked. I'm still having problems making calls from the locked screen using Siri, getting either no response or the low-pitch beep. But I'm told that things may take up to 24 hours for the dust to settle. I have only met one person who hasn't given me the impression that the lights weren't on and even this person wasn't hopeless, we just didn't have a good fit. I had one guy go to his lab to check out what he was telling me about what to look for in iTunes since I'm not at all familiar with it (I wasn't until the end of yesterday), and I'd call that above and beyond. That's more than 3 people who have been good over the last year and only 1 who wasn't. That's a very high rating from me.

Did the restore solve the majority of your issues in IOS 8? If that is the case than I will call them, unfortunately the times I have called them I seem to get the moron who will walk me through my issues and claim they are not getting the problem that I am, and since I can hear what they are doing and I do not hear VoiceOver on there end I have asked are you doing what I am telling you with VoiceOVer on, and they say no, but that would be a good idea. This has happened with multiple people on the accessibility line. Bewilders me.

Yeah, but here’s hoping that IOS 8.1 actually has some VoiceOVer improvements unlike 8.0.2 as some of these bugs are getting pretty freaking old especially the ones that never existed in previous versions of IOS

It's possible they update the iPod Touch again, but my guess is that just as 
with the last update (the Fifth Gen) it will be behind in terms of
processorand size. I doubt Apple would make a relatively inexpensive device 
(compared to the iPhone 6) which basically costs half as much but has all
the same specs except for being a phone. There are already the iPads who
fill that place and the iPod Touch has been a very small part of Apple's
business for quite a few years now. But let's just wait and see, we shall
know in 19 days.

was followed by a series of incremental iOS 7.0.x updates before iOS
7.1 launched during the opening stages of this year, iOS 8.1 is going
to be dropping just five weeks after that initial roll-out, and from
what we've heard, iOS 8.2 and 8.3 are already in the works.
October 20th is a Monday, and the day after, it is reckoned that Apple
will hold its second major event in as many months to showcase the new
iPad Air and iPad mini with Retina display. Both are expected to
benefit from Apple's
A8 processor as well as Touch ID, and there could also be a gold color
configuration in the offing, but while iPads and October tend to go
hand in hand, there may be quite a bit more on the agenda.

OS X Yosemite just hit Golden Master, and should also be rolling out
on one of these two days, and with the notion of a 5K Retina iMac and
new Mac mini also floating around, October is shaping up to be quite a
busy one as far as Apple is concerned.
