I set up File Vault after upgrading to Yosemite. It never showed me a
key or offered to have me save that to Apple. But I do know the
password.
So my Mac boots and then nothing happens. I understand that there
should be a beep and I should type my directory name and hit return.
Then I should fill in the password and hit return again. I've gotten
that from searching list archives. But I never get a beep. And nothing
enters. I did get an option once to change my password which I got
fred to read, so I definitely know my password and the directory name
because I saw them then. But now I can't get Fred again and I can't
log in at all. I'm stressed! LOL!
I promise I'll turn off this feature and be less secure if I ever get
back into my Mac. I just don't know why I'm not getting the beep to
enter the home directory.
