As Raul explained earlier, iOS 8.0, the original release, is basically iOS
8.0.0. Take away the decimal points and you have 800. Then the bad release
came, iOS 8.0.1, again, without decimal points, 801. Then Apple fixed the
issues in iOS 8.0.1 within a day or so and released 8.0.2 or 802 if you follow
my logic. Now iOS 8.1 was released. Note it is 8.1, not 8.0.1. As with the
original iOS 8.0, you can think of it as iOS 8.1.0, take away the decimal
points and you get 810. So, there is your progression, without putting in the
decimal points we have 800, then 801, 802 and now 810.
Most software developers utilize a similar standard, e.g. a major version, then
a subversion and the particular number of that subversion. 8 is the main
version, 0 is the first release or subversion, then comes 1 and the third part
is the particular release of 8.0 or 8.1. The next update Apple will release
will most likely be 8.1.1 or 811, there could even be an 8.1.2 and 8.1.3
although it is more likely that after 8.1.2 they will jump up to another major
release which would be 8.2 or 8.2.0 or 820 if you leave out the decimal points.

Subject: Re: some more bugs with 8.1

Hi! Folks: I may be crazy for asking this question, but originally 8.01 of iOS
was released, then it was deemed to be a bad program so my understanding was,
that it was recalled by Apple. Then, iOS 8.02 was released, I have that version
or iOS update 8.02. My question is why are we going to 8.1?
