Ahaa, now I don't like the Apple one, for the reason originally given by the questioner; too smooth and flat to maintain accurate location for long. Ok, we know it can be done, some are better at it than others; I'm one of the others, so get things more tactile, clunky even, it suits my fingers; that's what my computing career was brought up on.
OT: does anyone remember PC keyboards that had just 10 function keys to the left of the main letter keyboard; none of those along the top. Or: the Sun Spark keyboard that had function keys in both places, all along the top and down the side. Specialised UNIX keys no doubt.
