Hi, If you have a smart cover, shape it so that it sticks together in a triangle type shape, so that if in landscape your iPad will be sloping slightly. Once done, you should be able to flip it to portrate, at which point the smart cover should be supporting it enough for it to stand up. The iPad won't be overly stable using the above approach, but I find that if your gentle you can still perform gestures without it moving. As always, excersise care when using valueable devices such as iPads & ultimately everything's down to your discression.
