IOS 8.1 and VO will work on an iPhone 4S 8G. You'll need quite a bit of free space to install IOS 8.1 (less if you use iTuens from your Mac or PC), but once it's installed, you won't have any less space. There are more bugs in IOS 8.1 than you listed below. There's a focus bug where in some applications you need to make sure the object is actually visible on the display before you can work with it. This means more scrolling around. I'd suggest checking out applevis.com before making the decision. they'll have a more exhaustive list of the bugs still remaining in IOS 8.1. BTW, you may just want to wait for IOS 8.1.1, which is supposed to be in beta right now and has a lot of bug fixes in it, especially for the older devices.
