For the native facebook for iphone app, the search function is now on the mainpage, on the homepage, at the very top. If you type in your friends' name, all the names on facebook will appear, with people that you are friends with first, follow by strangers. For native Facebook for ipad app, the search friends function is still under the main-menu page, under friends, or under search, depending on which you want to use. Again, when you search, your friends will appear first, and follow by the strangers.
