OK, I found the answer. She used to understand “Read last message.” That bit of speech has gone out of her mind. You have to say something like, “Do I have any unread messages?” Now she will read the messages you have, and not just the last one which she used to do. So, improvement, but one has to do a bit of digging to figure out what to say.
