Hi, Camfind is an object identification app. It does a very good job with identifying clothing, canned goods, boxes, etc. It is free.
Yes, KNFB Reader is the very best of the text scanning apps. In my opinion, the next best is Prizmo. Close behind Prizmo is TextGrabber. Text Detective never worked for me. It depends on whether you want to be able to save the scans as documents. KNFB does that the easiest. Prizmo can do it, but it takes a lot of steps. TextGrabber, as far as I know, does not save documents. If you just want something to do a scan of a page and not save it, they can all do that. Prizmo has a quick scan option that works great! Prizmo is $9.99.
