The book does not need to be text to speech enabled in order to read it on the Kindle app. I have some books where Amazon says TTS is not enabled, and they read fine. I have seen problems with the android Kindle app with some books I bought that turned out to read fine with the iOS app. I have no idea why that is. But this is the first time I've heard of a book that was not readable with the iOS app. Would love to know what the book title is. Mary
