GLP is only available on SPARC systems. GLP was a special extension
that Sun developed as part of their SPARC OpenGL library to demonstrate
a proof of concept for 3D rendering without an X server. With some
minor modifications, EGL could be adapted to do the same job, if NVIDIA
and/or AMD were interested in implementing it in their driver stacks.

To my knowledge, Sun doesn't sell 3D-capable SPARC systems anymore, so
GLP is pretty much a dead technology. GLP is still available in SPARC
OpenGL 1.5, which ships as part of Solaris 10 update 1 (1/06) or later.
Thus, legacy installations can still use it, but since the VirtualGL
Project no longer has access to a SPARC platform on which to do builds,
VirtualGL 2.1.2 and TurboVNC 0.5.1 were the last releases which
contained SPARC binaries (so far, no one has complained.)
