For the first point - if you are using an ssh tunnel to get to the nodes (so
password communication is encrypted) you can setup TurboVNC to use the
system password for authentication.

Subject: [VirtualGL-Users] questions concerning turbovnc

Hello,

I have two question concerning turbovnc:

- We have a dedicated graphics server which users can use for graphics batch
jobs or shared interactive sessions via a queueing system. The vncserver
gets started from the queueing system and so soon as it is running users can
connect with their vncviewer. The problem is the very first usage, because
they don't get the password prompt from the vncserver command. Instead they
should set their vnc password with the vncpasswd command before using
turbovnc for the first time. But this doesn't work when there is no ~/.vnc
directory yet.
Is it possible to make vncpasswd create the ~/.vnc directory if necessary ?

- The other problem is with shared sessions with turbovnc. When the
vncserver is running with -shared several users can connect to the vncserver
without problems but within the shared session each user only sees his own
mouse pionter. Each user can see when another one is opening a menue or
moving a window but he can not see the otherone's mouse pointer which would
be very helpful to explain things. Is it possible to have a "shared mouse"
or probably several mouse pointers for each participant in the shared
session ?

Thank you very much and best regards,

Heiner
