For the "ls -l" hanging command, it's more generic : any command accessing to 
system name service was hanging. For instance, our .bashrc user scripts were 
hanging and had to be interrupted using ctrl-c. Then, ls was working and not ls 
-l

Disabling selinux made all OK.
