HI Myles,

I have successfully installed and used Virtuoso open source a number of times.

On the most recent install, I attempted to use Conductor to add some VAD packages. The install process hung with an error message prompting me to remove a file and reboot Virtuoso.

Doing so caused an error of the type:

[1] 222

..where the numbers vary each time.

I reinstalled Virtuoso and tried again. Every time the VAD installation hangs, the terminal loses the command line until I restart, and then Virtuoso refuses to boot, giving the cryptic error message type above until I reinstall.

This is on Mac 10.6.2 on a MB Pro.

Thanks and greetings from Orri's homeland,

Could you send me the last lines from the virtuoso.log file which should give the exact reason why the VAD package was not able to be installed.

Once this happens, you need to remove the virtuoso.trx file before restarting virtuoso.

Failing to remove the virtuoso.trx file can result in the roll-forward hitting the same problem with the installation and exiting again.

Also we just released Virtuoso Open Source 6.1.2 on sourceforge, so you may want to upgrade to this release first.
