Hello all!
Currently, I'm involved into a project, where ISDN-BRI ports must be
connected to the Asterisk box. After all possible tests, I noted that a
combination of:
HFC-S PCI card and vISDN works great. It's because many other solutions
(drivers as first) don't even compile decently, but if they do, there
are many other ISDN compatibility issues.
Please note, I'm coming from Slovenia and I have 10+ experiences with
IT, ISDN included.
But so far, I noted the following bugs:
1. I'm hearing a small amount of echo (it's quite bearable, but
noticeable), I hope the echo cancellation will be implemented soon
2. A driver does not handle the situation that many MSN numbers are
available, but Asterisk picks only some of them. This error was already
mentioned on this list. Asterisk dies. Pretty much unpleasant.
3. A driver does not compile under 2.6.14 kernel, but that's because of
the kernel structure change. That's bearable, but it would be nice to be
implemented within a I'd say 2 months time frame. I have found myself
several times in a very unpleasant situation, where some software
required a kernel 2.6.11, and the other part, 2.6.8. What can be done in
that situation? Not much I'm afraid.
P.S.: I monitor several instalations of vISDN and I will report how the
driver performs. So far, so good. Great work Daniele.
