Just received a call from Beronet's support after sending them my card. The card would work just A-OK on their system with misdn. (THX to Christian Richter at that point, though it was not exactly what I wanted to hear...)
What a bummer. I thought that the card was broken due to the fact that visdn worked out of the box with my cheap single-port card. Now it proves wrong. So they'll send my card back to me. That of course means that all debugging action starts from the beginning. Since I didn't manage to get a patched ethereal up and running I'm pretty much sure that this will cause some more pain. Not only for me but also for "annoying-you" purposes here on the mailing list ;-) Besides I'm somewhat in a urge to get the * finally up and rolling. I still can't help the thought that there's something wrong with the 4S-drivers (at least in combination with my card and FC4). Why would I get a (almost) flawless result with the single-port card and the Quad-port one simply won't do a thing? Has anyone gotten visdn running with exact the BeroNet-4-port card on FC4?
