Is both server and client safe to install?

I'm not thinking about bugs, that's the whole point of beta, but for
instance Visual Studio betas are known for digging themselves so far
into everything that a full OS-reinstall is really the safest way to
upgrade to the full version.

In other words, when you release the final versions, is all I have to
do just install on top of the beta and I'm good to go?
