Hi Uday, this problem occurs for me now only when I use the attach-save-files 
feature from rfaddons:
(require 'vm-rfaddons)(vm-rfaddons-infect-vm 0.1 '(attach-save-files open-line))

Bug description:
summary says it all: when trying to attach a file with a + in its name, vm 
complains that no such file exists.  when I quote the + as \+ within the file 
name, attaching works fine
