VM, or any operating system, really doesn't have anything to do with it. The DS8100 can replicate to an offsite box via a web interface on the Windows/XP console.
VM, or any other IBM operating system (sorry zLinux) can initiate the replication via program control, if necessary. But GDPS is a hardware thingie with the new storage. We didn't order that feature with our DS6800, but we may upgrade to it later. (Currently, we don't have an offsite storage box, but that might change...) Or can a DS8100 replicate to an offsite DS8100 without an operating system (z/VM in this case) getting involved? Thanks, Steve
