You do not need an actual 3270. But you do need some form of 3270 emulator running on your PC. Until you get TCP/IP running, you have no Telnet capability.
If you have no 3270 emulator product, then from VM510's OPERATOR, enter: CP ENAble ALL <just to be safe> CP DISConnect <at this point you should have the 2nd level logon LOGO> LOGON MAINT <enter VM510's MAINT password> Maybe: IPL 190 When at CMS Ready, enter: SAMPNSS CMS When at CMS Ready, enter: IPL 190 CLEAR PARM SAVESYS CMS <the "CLEAR" is really important!!> When at CMS Ready, IPL CMS <to prove it worked> Now... at this point you should be able to build the TCP/IP svm's that you are apparently so reliant upon.
