Both are on my list of Suspicious Blackhat Administrator Activities, but are [grudgingly] accepted when (a) the changes don't break something else, (ii) there are no viable alternatives, and (3) you don't blame us if the changes don't work next time. The SMTP zaps are "protected modifications" under the Viable Alternatives clause. That protection hasn't applied to modification of the PROFILE EXEC since 1998. :-) Alan
