Hi gang,

Well this seems to have started a bit of a conversation so let me try to
answer some questions immediately and I'll let Barton address the rest.

First, for those who know me and even care,

1) I work for Velocity Software (spelled Barton Robinson)
2) I manage and coordinate the development and enhancement of products for
Velocity Software (no matter how they are branded)
3) Support for Velocity Software products remains unchanged. You call ... we
answer (well as quickly as we can anyway)
3) Barton will speak to the marketing "collaborative effort" with any other
vendor
4) This is NOT a "transparent to the end user" situation. Velocity Software
customers continue dealing directly with the friendly smiling individuals
that you have come to know and love :)
5) Any questions or concerns can be addressed to Barton or I just like
always. We're here for ya :)

Regards,

The press release states in part:
"Under the terms of this non-exclusive agreement, ASG will market and
support Velocity?s infrastructure performance management products ...".

I sure hope Barton had good lawyers write the agreement. I've had
numerous discussions directly with ASG about the complete lack of
ASG-FCOPY (by happystance, originally written by Phil in a job far, far
away) product visibility on their web page (read: NONE). After a meeting
here regarding a number of ASG issues, the ASG regional vice president,
Central Region, wrote me on 9/28/2004 that he would address five specific
issues, including the lack of ASG-FCopy presence on the ASG product web
pages "to begin getting things back on track in short order." Subsequent
e-mails to him went unanswered. I'll omit my personal feelings at having
been lead on and then utterly ignored.

In my humble opinion, ASG appears to have taken on the pattern of support
that a formerly very guilty (IMHO) large two-letter ISV used to exhibit:
rake in the money while it's good to get, then just absorb the annual
maintenance fees without much in the way of support or maintenance. In
this case it does not appear that ASG will be developing or maintaining
the ESAxxx products. Good thing. I'd hate to have to go back to the
ungainly performance products force-fit into VM that we used to run.
