It indicates a problem encoding or decoding an object using ASN.1. 'fn' is the filename of the your X509INFO file, which must contain, at a minimum, something like: Common myserver.state.co.us Organization State of Colorado (or whatever) Alan Altmark z/VM Development IBM Endicott
