The concept is the same. The same protections are needed is both cases.

There are not too many examples in the IOCP guide where DASD is shared
between two physical CPU.  Most are LPARs.

The SHARED=Y option is for parallel channels and as far as I know
does not apply to 'sharing' the control unit in this sense.
