This is one of those myths that won't die.  Unless you have WAY too much 
storage, VM will page.  the use of expanded storage is the ONLY way to create a 
paging hierarchy in z/VM.  If it's configured, Xstore is used preferentially as 
page space until it fills.  Then, the oldest pages in XSTORE are migrated to 
DASD page space.  With large central stores, the need is often less, but it 
hasn't gone away.
