When I had to migrate minidisks from one volume to another, I created an
exec to read the VOLSER DIRMUSED file and generate the DIRM CMD commands
that I would send to DIRMAINT for after hours processing. When I wanted to
defrag a volume, I would edit the DIRMUSED file and remove the LOW resident
minidisks so I would only move the HIGH resident minidisks into the gaps of
another volume and then move the HIGH resident minidisks from that volume
back to the remaining gaps of the first volume. I may still have the exec,
but with decreasing VM workload and larger linux minidisks, I have
decreasing need to defrag volumes.
