With your console started, what does it show in the console log?  (e.g. 
"CP SPOOL CONSOLE * START NAME WAKEUP TEST").

You can also add at near the top of your exec the line (after the: /* */ ) 
the command: 
       trace I 
that will show exec executed REXX line, and the spooled console (which 
will go to your reader when you LOGOFF or issue 'CP SPOOL CONSOLE CLOSE' 
will show what happened.  Use "RDRLIST" and "PEEK" to view it (tip: before 
using PEEK, set it to show all the lines, not just the first 200 lines, by 
entering: "DEFAULTS SET PEEK FROM 1 FOR *")
