Wow!! Thanks for that bit of, to me, surprising history. Where did you
uncover that? You surely don't just have that in your memory banks and I
don't remember seeing it on a S/360 Green Card.

No, the web site is correct. George Fairchild was the first
chairman and Thomas Watson became chairmain in 1949. During the
intervening period, when TJ was president, the chairman was not
an executive position (day to day running of the company).
