there is no way to run SAP on a mainframe except the constellation z-Linux (in LPAR or under zVM) as the SAP application servers and zOS/DB2 as the database server. There is definitely no other option certified on the mainframe by SAP nor planned in the near future. There are some requirements from the customers to certify DB2-UDB for zLinux as database server, but there is up to now no answer from IBM or SAP, if this will be available sometimes. If you ask them, you will at most get the answer "Never say never".
