Hi listers,

is there any significant functional difference on an ESS between the
emulation of an LCU as 3990 Model 6 or 3990 Model 3. The reason of my
question is the following.

My customer runs currently a multiprise 2003 with Ramac dasds andVM/ESA 2.2.
We will upgrade his systemto zvm 5 and z890 with an ESS. Because there isn't
left enough room in computer center to install the 2 additional boxes. We
have firstly to install ESS and replace the old RAMACs with the old VM 2.2
and multiprise. Secondly we can install the z890 with zvm 5. I wonder if I
can avoid installing the ESS ptfs for VM/ESA 2.2 (which I could still
download fortunately) because it will only run a short period of time on
ESS, when I define the LCU as 3990 Model 3. There is enough dasd space on
ESS to copy the data under zvm 5 to 390 model 6 lcu afterwards and then
redefine the 3990-3 lcus as model 6.

Any advice would be welcome.

Mit freundlichen Grüßen / best regards
