You can even say: PIPE REXX( PROFILE EXEC) ... to start your PROFILE EXEC 
as a PIPE subroutine, in this exec you can then use for example PARSE 
SOURCE to find if it is called a Pipe subroutine
    parse source . . myname mytype . syn addr .
    if addr='?' then signal PipeSubrtn
