I've lost track of Richard's original problem statement. If it was that apparently-idle users were not being forced off by ESAMON, then review the manuals for the "LOCAL ESAWRITE" parms. Ours include the following statements to ensure that little activity pops to handle message displays do not make the user look active when it us being considered for "idle FORCE":
; Prevent "MSG userid" from causing idle user from appearing active idle_by_vtime = '1'b ; Evaluate idle users based on virt cpu idle_vmdvtime = .005 ; more than idle_vmdvtime secs Hope that helps.
