This is a legit workaround, though I don't know how it'd affect
performance. Check to see if the collision's there and drop back to the raw
device name if there is. We probably ought to taint this data too, if we
don't. If we allow perl scripts to run with assumed personas at some point
I could see this being used to do Evil Things.

The system's manager's manual needs a chapter entitled "Things that will
screw you over real quick", with this in it. (Along with such fun things as
deassigning sys$common, booting multiple nodes in a cluster with the same
root, failing to sacrifice a black goat to your SCSI chain at the dark of
the moon... you know, the standards :)
