Enclosed please find a small addition to vms/subconfigure.com that turns this: $ perl "-V:make" make='UNKNOWN'; into this: $ perl "-V:make" make='MMS'; The make utility on vms may be known by two different names, neither of which is make. (In the old days we supported GNU make as well but that is another story). Non VMS sysadmin types find this bewildering and having the name in Config.pm will help them ferret out the info they need. This comes close to patching near where Craig Berry's patch from 24 Apr 2000 modified vms/subconfigure.com (message [EMAIL PROTECTED] in the vmsperl archives at: http://www.xray.mpe.mpg.de/mailing-lists/vmsperl/2000-04/msg00134.html ) Please let me know if either this or Criag's patches have trouble making it into 5.6.1. After the release of that I hope to find some time to attend to other configure.com maintenance matters. --- vms/subconfigure.com_orig Wed May 10 12:30:15 2000 +++ vms/subconfigure.com Wed May 10 12:31:10 2000 @@ -4012,6 +4012,7 @@ $ WC "PERL_VERSION='" + patchlevel + "'" $ WC "PERL_SUBVERSION='" + subversion + "'" $ WC "pager='" + perl_pager + "'" +$ WC "make='" + make + "'" $ WC "uidtype='" + perl_uidtype + "'" $ WC "uidformat='" + perl_uidformat + "'" $ WC "uidsize='" + perl_uidsize + "'" End of patch.
