Dunno whether this is your problem specifically, but the following
patch is definitely necessary to run Storable:

The write probably terminates early because there is a null byte in
the data somewhere and our fwrite() replacement didn't handle it
properly before the patch above. Let us know if the patch does the
trick; unfortunately it means rebuilding Perl.
