Subject: Status of Perl/Tk

The current 'published' state is rather out of date: Tk800.012 on Perl 5.005_03. This
you
can find described in

http://www.xray.mpe.mpg.de/mailing-lists/vmsperl/1999-08/msg00032.html

and related responses.

FWIW, I have an almost working version of Tk800.022 available, albeit still on Perl
5.005_03 (which is the reason, why I have hesitated publishing it). A while ago, I
tried getting it onto Perl 5.6.0, but I encountered problems, which I have not had the
time to solve. I have yet to give it a try under Perl 5.6.1.

I went this way and believe me: It takes a LOT of work, and even some magic (search
for Perl/Tk on VMS in the vmsperl archive, and you'll see what I mean)!

If the interest is out there, I could relatively easy make Tk800.022 under Perl
5.005_03 available - upgrading to the newer Perl versions may or may not create
additional problems, which I will then need time to solve.

Let me hear some opinions!
